Advance Leap in Technology And Intelligent Robotics of DTU

The field of robotics is growing at an ever increasing pace and new ideas are being proposed every day. ALTAIR (Advance Leap in Technology and Intelligent Robotics) the robotic team of Delhi Technological University which was established in August 2016 has made an autonomous robot using Arduino for the Zonal round of World Skill Competition and for the National Round, they have developed a new robot using NI my RIO and plan to use computer vision to analyse the surrounding environment and for lifting objects.

In the month of October 2016, the ALTAIR team was invited to exhibit their projects and robots in the Josh Talks 2016 LEAP Conference held in New Delhi and their work was appreciated by the visitors and industry experts which helped them in getting a sponsor like “Steel Authority of India Limited”.

The ALTAIR team has participated in the Zonal Round of World Skill Competition (WSC), 2016 which was held in Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune and now the team has qualified for the National Round of World Skill Competition in mobile robotics and the winner of the National Round will represent their robot in the International Round of WSC, which is to be held in Abu Dhabi in October 2017.

So the team is busy building and testing an autonomous robot for the National Round of WSC. This robot is built in accordance with the problem statement provided by National Skill Development Committee, the organizers of WSC, India. The robot is designed to lift objects and place them in designated places. Till date, the ALTAIR team have participated in a number of Tech-Fests and Competitions like Technoxian and also represent DTU in Robowars, Roborallies, Roboraces, and other Robotics Events held all across the country.
