Team Raftaar of DTU won the first price in the ASME HPVC Asia Pacific Competition

Team Raftaar of Delhi Technological University  consists of energetic, imaginative, young engineers who love to have fun and love to ride their bicycle won the first price in the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) Human Powered Vehicle Challenge (HPVC) Asia Pacific Competition which was Hosted by the LNM Institute of Information Technology (LNMIIT) in Jaipur, India from March 3 - 5, 2017. Team Raftaar which is Human-Powered Vehicle Team, i.e. they develop vehicles which are solely powered by human force. The E-Fests (Engineering Festivals) events enable engineering students to expand their knowledge, test and showcase new skills and inspire innovation. In HPVC the students have to design and manufacture a unique and innovative vehicle which is powered solely by humans.
In 2016 team Raftaar participated in ASME HPVC West (California) which was their 1st international competition and International experience.  In past two years Team Raftaar had achieved many milestones like they were named the “Fastest HPVC in India”, then they came first in ASME HPVC India for Overall performance and Design of HPVC then in ASME HPVC West they came 12th position for their Design and also ASME HPVC West they came 19th position for their Innovation. Team Raftaar recently developed its first carbon fiber fairing for their vehicle. With their intense hard work and Research and development they are improving day by day and now they are developing an ABS system for day to day vehicles, which would lead to greater safety and stability at higher speeds.
ASME's international HPVC provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate the application of sound engineering design principles in the development of sustainable and practical transportation alternatives. In the HPVC, students work in teams to design and build efficient, highly engineered vehicles for everyday use from commuting to work, to carrying goods to market. ASME which is a not-for-profit membership organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enrichment, and skills development across all engineering disciplines, toward a goal of helping the global engineering community develop solutions to benefit lives and livelihoods. ASME serves this wide-ranging technical community through quality programs in continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations and other forms of outreach.  ASME has more than 32,000 students as their members.
