Delhi Technological University is a Myriad of Opportunities.

This year Delhi Technological University invited more than 70 Tech companies like Tata Motors, Hyundai Motors, Vedanta Group, Minda Group also big Non-Tech firms like Bain, BCG, Deloitte etc to select students from Mechanical and Automotive Engineering in their Placement Engineering Trainee Program  for the academic year 2016-17.
This year many students gave priority to college placements yet some have opted for further studies but everyone has focussed on placements sincerely. The profile offered and the company reputation both are important because one helps you to get satisfaction out of work whereas the latter helps you to stand out in future. Since, after the training period ends, the profile offered to students could be technical or non-technical depending upon their preference, it’s a win-win situation. Therefore choosing one over another is a matter of priority.
The profile offered was Graduate Engineering Trainee which can be Technical/Non-Technical depending upon student preference and performance during the training period. But this year particularly in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, the number of students who appeared for Graduate Record Examinations have increased marginally.
The selection procedure consists of 1st round which was a one-hour online test. The test was conducted by a third party website “People Asses”. It included one Quick Mathematics Section, one Logical Reasoning Section, one Data(Graphical) Interpretation Section, two English Sections (Grammar + Sentences) and one Technical Round. 29 students had appeared for this round and 24 were shortlisted.
The second round was a Group Discussion. Three groups were made and the topics given were very general like Demonetization, Performance of the AAP government etc. 19 students were screened out of this round and 10 students qualified for the final interview.
The final Round was the personal interview. It was all behavioral and resume based. It was taken by two executives, one from the manufacturing department and the other, from the services department. All they were looking for, was passion towards Automotive, dedication towards the company and willingness to relocate.  In the end, 3 Students were selected.
Mr. Jasminder Singh student from Mechanical and Automotive Engineering was selected by Royal Enfield for their Chennai branch as a Graduate Engineering Trainee in the DTU Placement Cell 2017.  He said Competition was much harder as everyone was trying to get a job, but sooner or later you will get your fair share. He said to make sure that you maintain 65-70% aggregate, but some companies use higher aggregate as a screening process in later rounds. Then to get an edge, before going for Test/ Interview research about the company and profile offered thoroughly, tailor your CV accordingly and then Google about previous year placement paper. Try to find alumni’s on Linkedin and have a conversation.  Then Choose your domain(Tech/Non-Tech) as early as possible and start preparing accordingly. It’s okay to get rejected sometimes but remember it’s not the end, it’s just a beginning. DTU is a ‘Myriad of Opportunities’ and you will get rewarded. Patience and confidence are keys to crack any test process. Just keep calm and keep trying. Don’t judge yourselves on some rejections, it doesn’t define your intelligence or question your abilities. Keep yourself motivated, Good luck!

The training and placement department of the university is working relentlessly throughout the year to further bring on board core technical companies for the different branches. The consistent and dedicated efforts, more and more companies visiting the campus and extend offers that thoroughly justify the capabilities of all our students.
